On Sunday, December 29, 2024, Timothy Ustanowski passed away at his home in Berlin, CT. He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 41 years, Sandra; his beloved daughter, Emily, and her wife, Hope; his adored grandson, Austen; his caring sister, Kathleen Ustanowski; his sisters-in-law, Kathleen Wilkinson, Sharon Walters, and Beverly Macri; his brother-in-law, Brian Walters; along with several nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.
Born on October 7, 1957, in New Britain, Tim flourished in the community he so deeply loved. He played football avidly at Pulaski High School and later at Central Connecticut State University. During this time, Tim met the love of his life, Sandra, his future wife, and discovered his calling in law enforcement.
Tim was a police officer and school resource officer in the City of Bristol for 25 years until his retirement in 2011. Known affectionately as "Usty" by his brothers and sisters in blue, Tim embodied everything a police officer should be—firm and capable, with a compassionate and empathetic heart. Although he approached his duty with seriousness, "Usty" is fondly remembered for the personality and humor he brought to the job each day.
Together with Sandra, Tim raised their pride and joy, their beautiful daughter, Emily. As a family, they shared a love of sports and cherished their travels, especially to Martha's Vineyard—Tim's forever "happy place." Later, their family grew to include their amazing daughter-in-law, Hope, and their absolute joy, grandson Austen, who lovingly called Tim "Gampy." He was eagerly anticipating the arrival of a soon-to-be-born granddaughter.
Tim rarely met a stranger and forged many close friendships throughout his too-brief time. School buddies were life-long friends; his extended family at his local gym were treasured, his neighbors, who have been the epitome of support and kindness.
