BERLIN & OLD SAYBROOK - Wallace "Moon" Mierzejewski, 95, of Old Saybrook, formerly of Berlin, husband of Marion (Wasilewski) Mierzejewski, died June 12, 2014, at Middlesex Hospital, Middletown. Born in Meriden, son of the late Stephen and the late Ann (Krygiel) Mierzejewski, he served in the U.S. Navy in WWII on the Lexington Aircraft Carrier, was employed at Alcap Manufacturing, was a member of St. Paul's Church in Kensington, and V.F.W.Post #10732, and managed youth baseball for 15 years. He is survived by four sons and two daughters-in-law, David and Ramona Mierzejewski of Anchorage, Alaska, Wallace Mierzejewski of Kemerer, Wyoming, Richard Mierzejewski of Anchorage, Alaska, and James and Lori Mierzejewski of Southington, a daughter and son-in-law, Anne and Bill Lasky of Old Saybrook, five grandchildren, Jessica Mierzejewski of Bellingham, Washington, Rebecca Mierzejewski of Anchorage, Alaska, Kyle Lasky of Old Saybrook, and Jamie and Stephen Mierzejewski of Southington. A private funeral liturgy took place at St. Paul's Church on Thursday (June 19, 2014). Burial with full military honors followed in St. Stanislaus Cemetery, Meriden. There were no calling hours by request of the deceased.
