Antonio V. Sisti, born January 17, 1941, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021, just days before his 80th birthday at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain. He was the husband of RoseMarie (Leone) Sisti who he was married to for 57 years.
Born in Tripoli, Libya he was the son of the late Gaetano Sisti and Rosa (Tersigni) Sisti. Antonio immigrated to the United States from Pontecorvo, Italy in 1956. He was a former New Britain resident and moved to Berlin in 1961. He was a U.S. Air Force Veteran stationed in Charleston, SC from 1961-65. He was employed at General Electric in Plainville as a Group Leader for 36 years before retiring in 1996. Antonio was a member of St. Paul Church, the Italian Independent Political Club, and the Generale Ameglio Society. Upon immigrating to the United States, Antonio played semi-pro soccer for the Hartford Soccer Club and he also played for the Generale Ameglio Soccer Team. Antonio was a fan of Geno and the UConn Women’s Basketball Team, the Italian National Soccer Team, the Dallas Cowboys, and the Boston Red Sox. Antonio had many hobbies, however, his biggest passion was following his grandchildren in all their endeavors, especially their sports. He was always the first fan at the games, sometimes even before the teams.
Surviving are his wife, Rose Marie (Leone) Sisti; two sons, Anthony G. and his wife Ann Sisti, Robert and his wife Tracy Sisti; three sisters, Lucia and her husband Tony LaRosa, Lillian and her husband Francis McLoughlin, and Marisa and her husband Derik Pulito; five grandchildren, Anthony J., Julia, Skyler, Santino, and Dante; his cousin Enzo DeGasperis and his wife Valkiria; and many nieces and nephews whom he loved dearly.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, January 15 th at 10 AM at St. Paul Church in Kensington. Burial will be at St. Mary’s Cemetery. There are no calling hours. Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin is in charge of arrangements. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to a charity of your choice.
