Catherine Marie Nelson (Kitty), a lifelong resident of East Berlin, passed away on Saturday, July 1, 2023 at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain. She was the widow of Harry Nelson.
Born in East Berlin, she was the daughter of the late John and Helen (Rozanski) Pacyna. Catherine was a hard worker all of her life often working two or three jobs. She started by working at her family’s business, Pacyna’s Dairy Bar in East Berlin and later was proud to be a Nurses Aid for eighteen years at New Britian General Hospital. She retired from the State of CT Department of Revenue Services. Catherine was a devoted member of Sacred Heart Church in East Berlin, and the Mary’s Widows group at church. She also was a Food Share volunteer for many years.
Surviving are four sons, John Wojtusik and his wife Sue of Kensington, James Wojtusik of Northwood, NH, Joseph Wojtusik and his wife Beth of Middletown, and Jeffrey Wojtusik and his dog Malibu of Middletown. Also surviving are a sister, Beverly Lucas and her husband Robert of Davenport, FL; nine grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Catherine was predeceased by two sisters, Aniela Pajor and Helen Stankoski; five brothers, Joseph Pacyna, Anthony Pacyna, Henry Pacyna, Francis Pacyna, and Edward Pacyna; and two infant siblings, Jan and Florence.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, July 8, 2023 at 11:30 AM at Sacred Heart Church, East Berlin. There are no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Connecticut Foodshare.
