Dolores F. Nugent

Dolores F. Nugent, 80, of Santa Clarita, CA, died on December 2, 2019. 

Dolores was born on December 3, 1938 in Glen Cove, NY, daughter of Margaret Scarlett and John Nugent. She completed nursing program at Lenox Hill Hospital in 1959 and went on to work as a nurse at the hospital. In 1965, she moved to California and worked as a nurse at the West Los Angeles VA Hospital before settling into a long and successful career at Providence St. Joseph Medical Center in Burbank, CA. 

She had a loving and adventurous spirit. In her younger years, she enjoyed skiing and camping, often bringing her beloved cat Midnight on her backpacking adventures. She loved spending time with family, especially in Las Vegas, where she often traveled. A theme of her life was beating the odds, whether in Vegas or in her own life experience. One of her most enjoyable moments was winning a slot tournament in Las Vegas. She had many travel adventures with family, such as her bucket list cruise to Alaska. In her later years, she enjoyed her cats, reading, and spending quality time with her grandson.

Dolores is survived by her daughter, Heather, son-in-law David, and grandson Jonathan. She is also survived by her sister Patricia Lombardi, brother-in-law Guy Lombardi, and sister Jean Nugent. She is survived by her godson/nephew Michael Lombardi and his wife Elizabeth, nephews Thomas Lombardi and wife Laurie and Robert Lombardi and wife Janice, as well as cousins, great-nieces and great-nephews. 

Dolores’ wake will be held Sunday, December 15, from 2-5 p.m. at Erickson-Hansen/Porter’s Funeral Home at 111 Chamberlain Highway, Berlin, CT. Funeral mass will be Monday, December 16 at 10 a.m. at St. Paul’s Church at 461 Alling St., Berlin, CT.
