Earl Schindler Obituary

Earl Frederick Schindler, 95, of Kensington, husband of Sylvia Schindler of 49 years, passed away on Wednesday, June 23, 2021 at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain.

Born in Rockville, he was the son of the late Frederick and Bertha (Schneider) Schindler.  Earl was a former resident of Newington and Rocky Hill before moving to Kensington 40 years ago.   He was a U.S. Army Air Force Veteran of World War II.  While he was stationed in the Pacific Theatre, he served as a high-speed radio operator in the Army Airways Communication System (A.A.C.S.).  He obtained a B.S. in Industrial Management and was employed as an Industrial Engineer in several manufacturing concerns, in various parts of the country.  Earl moved back to CT and was employed by Stanley Works from which he retired after 27 years.  He was a 50 year member and past president of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church and was part of the Over the Hill Gang at church.  Earl was also a life member of the Newington Ski Club. 

Surviving are his loving wife, Sylvia (Soehle) Schindler; two brothers-in-law, Normal Schmidt and John Soehle (Maureen); and his nephews, Paul Schmidt (Anne Marie), John Schmidt (Shelly), Mark Schmidt, and John Soehle (Tracy); a niece,  Diane (Soehle) Gibson (Robert); five great nephews, one great niece, and many dear friends.   He is also survived by a special cousin, Kenneth Loescher (Karen).  Earl was predeceased by a sister, Ruth Schmidt.

Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, June 30 at 1:30 PM at Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Kensington.  Military honors will follow at church.  A private burial will be held in Grove Hill Cemetery, Rockville. Memorial donations may be made to Prince of Peace Lutheran Church.
