Genevieve Lemanski Arbour, 87, of The Villages, FL passed away on February 20, 2022, surrounded by her family. Genevieve, also known as Jen, was born on February 2, 1935, in New Britain, CT she was the daughter of Frank and Mary (Tantarski) Lemanski both deceased.
Genevieve lived in New Britain CT throughout her childhood and was educated in local schools. She raised her family in New Britain before moving to Berlin CT in 1971.
She had been the loving wife of Edward Robert Arbour for 66 years. In addition to her husband, she is survived by her three children: Lawrence Arbour (wife Georgene); Kathryn Arbour (partner William Casner helped care for Jen), and Carol Calvo (husband Sal). Also, by her 6 grandchildren who were the love of her life: Leah Arbour Mitchell, Phoebe Dodge (husband David), Kyle Krukowski, Jamie Calvo (fiancé Taylor Dudics), Nicholas Calvo (wife Molly), and Sam Calvo (aka Salvatore III). Also, her 4 great grandchildren, Justin Groth, Faye Groth, Aubrey Calvo, and Camden Calvo.
She is survived by her sister Barbara Bradshaw. She was predeceased by brothers Frank, Edward and Walter Lemanski and sisters Eleanor Golas, Agnes Dennis, and Theresa Peshka. She was survived by many very close friends, nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews.
She worked as an accounting clerk, for over 40 years, from New Britain General Hospital. She took time off to help raise her 4 grandsons in Berlin, CT. She was happiest when her family would gather. She was an extremely hard worker. She took care of her elder mother, aunt, and uncle in their time of need. Her passion was knitting. She enjoyed reading later in life.
She was Charter member of the Campfire girls as well as leader of the Bluebirds and the Campfire girls. She was a tutor in the Literacy Volunteers of America Program. She served on the Board of Directors for New Britain General Hospital. She was Secretary for 3 years for the Berlin Chapter of AARP, Berlin Senior Center. She was Chairman for 9 years of the St. Paul Church Shawl Committee. She was a member of the Rosary Guild and Ladies Guild in Kensington.
Relatives and friends are invited to call on Friday, March 4, 2022, from 5:00-8:00 pm at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin/Porters, 111 Chamberlain Hwy, Berlin, CT 06037. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, March 5, 2022 at 11:30 am at St. Paul’s Church, 461 Alling St, Berlin, CT 06037. She will be lovingly laid to rest at South Burying Ground, 249 Southington Rd, Kensington, CT 06037 following the Mass.
