Mary Rich Obituary

Mary Julia (Bandarutis) Rich, beloved wife of Frank T. Rich, passed away on March 8, 2023 at her home after a long illness at the age of 83. Mary was born in New Britain on September 24, 1939. She was the daughter of the late Anthony and Antosi Bandarutis.

Mary was raised in Berlin, graduating from Berlin High School. She was a graduate of New Britain General Hospital School of Nursing. Mary was employed as an RN at the New Britain General Hospital for 42 years, providing loving and devoted care and support to hundreds of patients over the years.   She was a member of St. Paul’s Church, Kensington.

Mary, always quick to laugh and smile, loved spending time with her family and friends and enjoyed traveling with her husband, Frank.

Mary leaves behind her loving husband of 60 years, Frank T. Rich.  She was the loving and devoted mother to daughter Robin, and her son, Kenneth and mother-in-law to Catherine Rich and Mark Tomasi. She also leaves behind her five grandchildren, whom she adored, Krystal Rich, Karly Rose Tomasi, Andrew Rich, Alec Rich and Aiden Rich. Mary also leaves several nieces and nephews and especially her loving friends of many years, Liz Crowley and her late husband, Joe Crowley.  Mary was predeceased by her sister, Helen (Bandarutis) Rich, a special niece, Kathy (Rich) McCrann, nephew, Joseph Rich and brother in law, Walter Rich.

Special thanks to the VNA of Central CT Hospice and all those who provided loving care to Mary.   A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Paul Church.  In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary’s name can be made to the Hospice of the Central CT VNA.  Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin is in charge of arrangements.
