Maryann F. Janota, 72, a former Berlin resident, passed away on Sunday, Oct. 29, 2023 at Midstate Medical in Meriden.
Born in Meriden, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Janota, Sr. and Mary (Tricka) Janota. Maryann was a Berlin resident most of her life. She held many jobs and loved working with people. The ones she was most proud of included a home daycare provider, delivering newspapers, working at Walmart and was most recently employed at FedEx.
Maryann grew up on her family farm in Berlin and is now walking down the Heavenly cow paths with her mother. Maryann loved her family and enjoyed camping, cooking and hosting family events. She was a seasonal resident at Wolf’s Den Campground.
Surviving are her husband, Mark Shepard; her three children, Aaron Smith and his wife Linda of Indiana, Tracy DiPietro and her husband Darryl of Plainville, Chris Yezierski and his wife Rachel of Berlin; two step-daughters, Melody Shepard and her fiancé Matt Tidd of Torrington; and Kate Shepard of Berlin; a brother, Robert Janota and his wife Michele of Berlin; six grandchildren, Tymira Kibel and her husband Dakota, Cedra Grajewski and her fiancé Ben Pelletier, Dade Grajewski, Cole DiPietro, Jillian Yezierski, and Tabitha Yezierski; and two great grandchildren, Kyla Pelletier and Revyn Kibel; and three nieces. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Janota Jr.
Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10 AM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin, 111 Chamberlain Hwy., Kensington. Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Calling hours will be held Thursday from 4-7 PM at the funeral home.
