Richard Cote, 70, of Berlin, husband of Janet Cote, passed away at home on Sunday, Nov. 6, 2022.
Born in Hartford, he was a Berlin resident for the past 42 years. Richard was the owner of a carpet installation company before retiring. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Connecticut Flooring Association where he formerly served as a board member. Richard was a founder of the Dirty Dozen Annual Golf Tournament. As a long time Berlin resident, he enjoyed spending time at Portofino's restaurant, where the staff became like family. He was an avid fan of the NY Yankees, NY Giants, and UCONN Basketball. Richard loved golf, a good suspense movie, and spending time with his family.
Surviving are his wife, Janet (Desjardins) Cote; a son, Richard Cote Jr. and his wife Jaime; a daughter, Maranda Cote Castelhano and her husband Jeffrey; his mother, Philime (Chasse) Cote of Wethersfield; three sisters, Linda Kennedy, Anna Tetreault, and Renee Morales; and four grandchildren, Aiden Cote, Landon Cote, Emilia Castelhano, and Arya Castelhano. He was predeceased by his father, Valere Cote, sister, Charlene, and brother, George.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday at 12 PM at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin, 111 Chamberlain Hwy. Kensington. Burial will be in Mt. St. Benedict Cemetery in Bloomfield. Calling hours are Thursday morning from 10 AM to 12 PM at the funeral home.
