Romuald Mogdans, 84, of Berlin, passed away on Wednesday, July 13, 2022. Romuald was born in Germany on January 18, 1938 and immigrated to New Britain in the late 1950’s. After obtaining a mechanical engineering degree in Germany, he found employment at Stanley Works as a machinist, becoming a foreman and retiring with over 30 years of service. He was an actively engaged member of St. John's Church. Springtime gardening, work around the yard, bowling and bird watching were his passions. He was a devout soccer fan and enthusiast who loved to collect coins, especially the new state series quarters. He was an altruist for the less fortunate and supporting the under-dog. His broad knowledge base was a notable trait of his. He passed peacefully leaving lasting memories. He was a friend, a loving uncle, a father figure for our family, and an all around great human. A diagnosis of Alzheimer's sadly claimed his life.
He is survived by two nephews; George Durko and Gustav Durko, and two nieces; Lucie Chartrand (Timothy Chartrand) and Nancy Prior. He was a grand uncle to Lindsey Chartrand and Sara Chartrand and a great-grand uncle to Mason Chartrand. He also leaves his dear heartfelt friend, Jean Bozak. He will be greatly missed, but never forgotten. Fond memories and prayers his soul rests in peace. Funeral services will be held privately. Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin is handling arrangements. Any donations and/or gifts in his memory should be made to St. Jude’s Hospital.
