Sheila (Southall) Mroz, 84, formerly of New Britain and Simsbury, died unexpectedly on Friday (August 27, 2021) at Norwalk Hospital. She was the widow of Wladyslaw (Walter) Mroz. Born in Birmingham, England, she was the daughter of Horace and Laura (Tromans) Southall who predeceased her. She was also predeceased by her brother, Ivan.
When she and her family moved to the United States, she started a career in banking. She worked for a number of financial institutions including The Federal Savings Bank of New Britain and American Savings Bank from which she retired in 1999. A fun loving wife and mother, she will be remembered most for her delicious apple pies and her love of music and dancing.
She is survived by her daughters, Janina Mroz Rocheleau of Granby and Amanda Bunting of Bethel; a son-in-law, Timothy J. Bunting; a grandson, Thomas Andrew Bunting and nieces and nephews in England and Poland.
Friends may call at the Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin/Porter’s, 111 Chamberlain Hwy., Berlin, on Saturday, from 10:30 AM to 12 PM to be followed by a religious service at 12 PM. Memorial donations may be made to the Alzheimer's Association or a charity of the donor’s choice.
