Stacy McCarroll Obituary

On Thursday, April 23,2020, Stacy Marie McCarroll, loving mother, daughter, sister, aunt and friend, passed away at the age of 46.  Stacy was born on October 6, 1973 in Danbury, CT to Charles and Germaine McCarroll but grew up in Southington, CT.  Stacy lived with Cystic Fibrosis.  Despite her illness, she graduated from Southington High School in 1992, received Bachelor of Art in Social Work from SCSU in 1997, and Master’s in Education from University of Bridgeport in 2002.   However, due to worsening of her illness, she was unable to work in her field of degree.  Her greatest achievement was giving life to her daughter, Shyann, in 2011.  Stacy’s legacy lives on in Shyann.

Stacy was full of life and those who knew her will always remember her infectious laugh which led to her nickname, Gigs.  Stacy enjoyed many things in life but her passions, beside her daughter, were Chinese food, Pepsi and Twizzlers, jewelry making and photography.  She loved her family and friends and would do anything for anyone.  She exemplified immeasurable strength over the last nine months.  Her only wish was to be able to run and play with Shyann and breathe with new lungs.  She received the gift of life this past New Year’s Eve with new lungs but never got the strength to run.  However, she did experience the miracle of breathing with new, healthy lungs and that memory we will forever cherish.  She may have been small, but she was mighty and fierce.   Even when she was down to her last breath, she did not give up.

Stacy is survived by her greatest joy, her daughter Shyann; her mother, Germaine McCarroll; her father, Charles McCarroll; her sisters, Lisa McCarroll (Eric Adams) of Southington, CT, Jodi Walsh (Sean) of Bristol, CT and Patti Tilford (Dustin) of New Milford, CT; and surrogate sister, Kristen Angell of Southbury.  She is also survived by nieces and nephews, Nicole DiMasso, Lucas Adams, Roisin and Aislin Walsh and Brayden and Juliet Tilford as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins.

Due to present conditions, a Mass of Christian Burial and celebration of life will take place at a later date.   In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to  GoFundMe to support Shyann’s future, https://www.gofundme.com/f/stridesforstacy.  Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home, Berlin, is in charge of arrangements.
