Vincent Joseph Rossitto, 94, of Kensington, beloved husband of Elena (DiMauro) Rossitto passed away on March 23, 2019, after a brief illness, at the Hospital of Central CT in New Britain, surrounded by his loving family.
Born in New Britain on January 3, 1925, he was the son of the late Innocenzo and Paola (Cipri) Rossitto. Vincent graduated from the University of Hartford with a B.S. degree in Industrial Engineering. He was also a graduate of the U.S. Merchant Marine Academy at Kings Point, NY and served during WWII with the Merchant Marines. He was formerly employed as an engineer at Pratt & Whitney, before retiring.
Vincent was a member of the Berlin Civitan Club, the YMCA, enjoyed playing bridge at the Meriden YMCA, and playing golf with the Timberlin Senior Men’s Golf League. He enjoyed spending the summers at Giants Neck Beach in Niantic.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by his daughter, Vivian Roberts and her husband Paul of Torrington, CT and his son, Robert Rossitto of Miami, FL; two grandchildren, Sara and Daniel Roberts; a great grandson, Javiel Worrell; a brother-in-law, Salvator DiMauro and his wife Theresa; and nieces and nephews, Dr. Marie Elaine DiAngelis, Dr. Robert Pawlicki and his wife Gail, Atty. Thomas DiMauro and family, Doreen Freeman and family, Daria DiMauro, Andrea Pirog and family, Frank Grimaldi and family, Peter Grimaldi and family, and Max Rossitto and family. He was predeceased by his sisters, Marie Pawlicki and Lucy Vallee and his brother, Sal Rossitto.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, March 29, 2019 at 11:30 am at St. Paul Church in Kensington. Burial will be in St. Sebastian Cemetery in Middlefield. Calling hours will be held on Friday at Erickson-Hansen Funeral Home of Berlin/Porters, 111 Chamberlain Hwy, Kensington from 9:30 am to 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
